I submitted an article on October 5, 2024, to the Journal of Vibration Engineering and Technology. There has been no update yet. Should I drop a mail to the editor, or will it adversely affect the publication?

I see that it takes the journal more than six months to find enough reviewers (this is in most cases the reason why it takes so long).Patient is the best in these cases (just move on with the good work) but I guess one polite e-mail to the handling editor will not 'harm' the process.
