The cold fresh water from the poles is going to block the warm water (Gulf) stream (heat transport). There is a theory that salt in water can conduct electricity. So it could start some electric counter balance. How much salt is needed to warm the oceans?

This subject is really not my expertise, and I first heard about this possibility reading State of Fear by Michael Critchen. Basically fresh water freezes at 32 degrees F, and sea water freezes at about 28.4 degrees F. The sea ice doesn’t have that much salt in it, and may be drinkable like freshwater. A portion of the oceans is sea ice, and a portion of the earths freshwater is snow, glaciers, etc. Aa the stored snow, glaciers and sea ice melt, it adds freshwater, diluting the concentration of salt in the oceans. The earth‘s temperature and weather patterns are influenced by the oceans, the mass circulation of water, etc. If the ocean were to dilute too much by excessive melt water, the theory is critical areas or bottlenecks of the ocean might freeze, disrupting the normal circulation pattern, allowing portions of the ocean to substantially warm, affecting weather patterns, and of course, sea level rise. I have also heard about the North Pole actually shifting location through time, and a program that showed a deposition of sediment layer at relatively moderate to high elevation and evidenced in many countries. There were also reports of cities or civilizations now buried in the ocean depths. And in my state of South Carolina, we have the Fall Line that runs across the state where the ocean was, and currently it’s about 300 feet asl. The whole subject is interesting, and many cultures include tales and engrained rituals of the big flood. Sometimes it is difficult to discern ot probe what’s fact, but we continue to search for better understanding.
