I lived in a tropical country in a continous 12 hours of sunshine the whole year with torrential monsoon rains in summer. I also live in mid-latitude city where summer is very hot and winter is too cold. I had the opportunity to conduct research in both countries.
To do a solid research then, my mind becomes more stable when the weather is to the lower temperature end. So, in tropical country, I am usually active when the sun goes down, later during the day and the night. In a mid-latitude cold region, winter, spring and autumn full seasons are good for the stability of the mind and concentration.
Unfortunately, the work culture in most of tropical countries is during the noon when the sun is vertically overhead and it is too warm. Almost all people I talked to feel sleepy during such over-heating. People can't be productive during such uncomofrtabe period. Perhaps, I would suggest change in work-hours in most tropical countries can make them productive, if they can work from 5:00 to 12:00 Am and/or 5:00 to 12:00 PM. It is to be noted that most of the work places in tropical countries do not have appropriate ventilation systems partly because it is unaffordable or requires regulation. Even with appropriate ventilation systems in the offices, people commute to work by buses, taxis that requires walking to/from their homes to the roads in the heat. Commuting to work in the heat is more tiresome than the actual labour. So, working during the day-hour is not appropriate one way or the other in tropical countries.
