In the link provided by the Prof. Shen-Ming, the paper report the value of gap-optical of PANI "pure" as 2.7 eV.
The value of the optical-gap is equal to 2.8 eV as reported in another paper, see in the link:

Here, the preparation procedure is given that allow prepare again and further measurement in according to specific apparatus and technique.
Then, differences of 0.1 eV are feasible to index a same parameter. A changing of order of 0.2 eV can indicate modification of the optical-gap. This find should be verified by another technique.
