We are interested in determining the extraction constants of some metals through solvent extraction with an organic extractant using slope analysis approach. We will appreciate your views on this.
You can use two organic extractant using slope analysis approach one may show high reducing state to low reducing state or in oxidizing state. A different between these would tell you the extraction efficiency by using in extraction formulae.
The simplest method if available is to measure distribution coefficient of microamounts of metal (e.g. radioactice tracer) vs. the concentration of extractant. Then e.g. when 1:1 complex is formed you ideally obtain logD = a + b.logc(extractant) where b is 1 and a is an extraction constant. It is typical log-log analysis.
