There is a great deal of disconnect between researchers and policy makers. As a result, majority of researchers are not fully aware of gaps in policies and research is driven by personal biases and not on objective basis,
Research and Policy are ought to go hand in hand. However, often there is a schism between Policy and Research. It is imply due to researcher's lack of focus, and inability to connect their research agenda with local, regional and global needs, and to situate their research goals and findings in policy as a subject matter.
Often the Policies in different contexts may be classed/sub-grouped under different headings in different contexts, and it may lead to considerable confusion, especially in LMICs, where Policy making is often not oriented by sound and robust research.
