I know the cliched phrase:the more the merrier, but according to your experience, How many publications do suffice to start as a PhD student or to apply for scholarship?
None - at the end of the day. Publications are not usually a pre-requisite for entry into a doctoral programme. Either a very good first-class honours degree or an existing Master's degree usually fill the spot. Publications are expected, however, (sometimes within) but more often after a PhD. It's a good aim for MA, MSc and MPhil (especially) students to have published their work - but it is not mandatory.
