I am doing stereotaxis in murine brain and would like to check the injection spot with Methylene Blue. How long will the blue color appear in a live animal?
It should last a few hours. I used Methylene blue whenever i started stereotaxic surgeries. I did not recover the mouse post op. Once I completed the procedure I euthanized and sectioned the brain using a 1mm matrix.

If you are just making sure that the site of injection is correct, it is good to sacrifice the animal immediately after that and then look for the site (in cases when you can identify it anatomically)
Andrea C Diaz Diaz do you have a protocol for this? I want to inject the methylene blue, sacrifice the animal immediately after and section the brains. My plan is to put the brains in PFA and section a batch of them together to compare different injection parameters, will the methylene blue still be visible under these conditions?
