Has anyone tested how long a diluted glutaraldehyde solution kept at 4 degrees Celsius can last before a new solution needs to be made? I prepared 100mL of 2.5% glutaraldehyde in 0.1M phosphate buffer and I'm keeping it in a transparent glass bottle in our fridge. I want to know whether if it will still be a good fixative after a few weeks of storage.
The EMS website said that degradation/polymerization of glutaraldehyde changes its light absorption characteristics, so that could be a way to validate this. However, I'm curious if anyone has any experience with this question before testing that.
