I heard from my supervisor that engineers are supposed to work 56hrs/week. I am astounded by that total length of time because I can only study (not work) around 35hrs/week. During this university time, I only go for lunch break, dinner break (all those necessary breaks) and I am strict in counting the length of time I study in a given week.
Seriously though, I think that in those 56hrs/week, there are times when workers have smoke breaks, lunch break etc. How is it possible for them to work 56hrs/week strictly (without break)?
I still do not understand the concept about working hours though. I just think it is impossible for a person to work 56 hrs/week or more without any necessary breaks at all.
60-80 hours/week; but I work for myself (I occasionally take short naps during the day), have an office attached to my home; and move between clinical and academic work--having spent most of my life in academia, I was at first nervous about going on my own, but I find that having control over my hours makes me MORE productive in addition to enjoying my "self-inflicted" job requirements more (with the exception of state mandated documentation, etc etc etc....none of us are really without some bosses)
45-50 hours a week.

I agree with you every one starting his or her career face a little bit problem in initial days but as soon as things becoming part of routine we feel easy with them if they give us some inner satisfaction too.

There must be balance in life, you didn't provide any thing for your rest schedule that is essential for smooth work routine.
