Music and language cannot be separated from each other. Sometimes the musician intends to explain his internal emotions by music; so the cultural context and language in which he have been grow up shape his choices and preferences in composing. For example, in some languages there is a strong emphasis on clarity and simplicity; musical pieces in such a background would have a few or maybe no ornamentations. I also assume that we can identify the musical style of a nation by referring to their literature. If you examine the musical pieces of a nation in which there are many epics, you may find the epic elements in their music too. This indicates that the structures of the mother tongue affect the musical identity.

This hypothesis is true in the case of improvisation too. Consider three musicians, an Iranian, an Indian and a Chinese one who studied in a same academy in America and have equal musical knowledge. If we ask them to improvise in a same scale, we would get three performances totally different from each other. In my point of view, this can only be explained by the effects of language pragmatics on music creation.
