The wind turbine blade made with more than one airfoil needs an interpolation between successive sections with different airfoils. I need explanations on how this is done. Please help
I'm not a expert on this but hope the following could help a little.
I think some techniques similar to aircraft wing design could be used. The following paper adopted a cubic function interpolation to ensure smoothness in a wing-body geometric design (Equations 3 and 4 in the Section II-3). The interpolation between two span-wise sections was done based on one coordinate (y-direction here in their definition of coordinate)
For wind turbine blades, the following paper used a different way, the radial-basis function, and both x- and y-coordinates were independently interpolated to yield better results (Section 2.2):
