In my experiment, PFBHA is used to derivatize a carbonyl group containing compound and then the excessive PFBHA is quenched by added concentrated sulfric acid according to previous studies. I would like to ask the mechanism or reaction of PFBHA being "quenched" by sulfuric acid.

Since the reaction proceeds in water, it is just the formation of the corresponding salt (alkoxylammonium), that cannot anymore react with carbonyls, and probably will not be extracted into the organic solvent as the corresponding oxime does.
