The amino group of APTES reacts with hexanoyl chloride (nucleophilic attack) to form the hexanoyl amide of ABTES and chloride will be trapped by ET3N to form triethylammonium chloride. The next step should be evaporization of the chloroform to dryness, followed by dissolving the residue in dry ether, and filtration of triethylammonium chloride (not soluble in ether) using Whatman filter paper.
