An implicit assumption of much of strategic management is that companies that create the best fit among decisions made in the company. Add to this the notion of a business enacting its environment (management decisions about what the boundaries and activities of the business are will determine what its environment is). Michael Porter's approach in "Competitive Strategy " (1980) reflected this. His point was that good performance depended on picking the right industry. You can connect strategic management to firm performance using the Balanced Scorecard (BSC). The BSC can help you to improve the strategic management.as it helps you to assess how successful you have been in meeting your strategy against predetermined key performance indicators. Also, BSC can help you in to improve performance, as it shows you which targets have not been met or which targets have been overreached so that resources should be re-allocated.
