However, they also raise challenges related to academic integrity, ethical use, and require balanced institutional policies for responsible integration.

Its leading to shallower knowledge and lower analytical reasoning capacity amongst students. In the past we had to read a lot, look for information, assimilate that, assess that and generate a summary from various papers. Now its just with a click one has the answers, whose wording can be changed at the end to fool plagiarism tools. But in the end one fools oneself, and society in future. In addition, an overlooked issue of AI is the massive amount of water and power needed to run the data centers that process ChatGPT queries. Not sustainable at all presently, unless there are tech advancements in closing the water cycle and truly renewable power.
