How ecofriendly is the idea of Reusable packaging recalled by company itself. Reusable packaging like how cooking gas or how, a little earlier, we would return the glass bottles of milk and soft drinks so that they reach the product to the customer, but the packaging is not disposed. The packaging gets recalled back to the company. Whether transparent or not.

I was actually suggesting reusable packaging and not something that will need to be disposed off immediately. So something like steel/ other metal / glass etc. like milk bottles, soft drinks, gas cylinders, etc. Containers that can be shipped easily to and from the consumers and go in a cyclic method to deliver the goods inside.

The philosophy of reusable packaging is not new. However, there are significant examples from the past where such efforts have been criticized a lot. Germany's refill quota is one of them. Groups like the Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment (INCPEN) and Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE), at the end of the 1990’s demanded that the EC take measures against Germany’s refill quota, “which put a 28% ceiling on drinks in single use packaging” (Packaging Magazine, 1999). Because of the fact that the German system promoted the use of refillable containers, the system of deposits for non-reusable bottles was thought to be unfair for the foreign industries who in order to avoid these extra charges had not only to change their bottles transforming them into refillable but also to organise reverse, longer and expensive channels of transportation (comparing with the local manufacturers) in order to take back the empty bottles.
A similar problem arose in 2005 when the Hungarian government decided to introduce a new product fee on beverage containers. As a result Beverage Can Makers Europe (BCME) inquired the EU Commission to investigate the legitimacy of these measures.
That's bad. Actually when the packaging gets into a cyclic mode, there is no second line of transport to take back the empty bottles. It becomes a give and take at the same time. This philosophy has always been there before the one time use packaging came up. But I'm highlighting it now because the OTP system is found to harm the ecosystems globally.
