I thought Minkowski 4D space was timeless but when cut into 3D slices or projected on to a 3D screen/world arbitrary time dimensions manifest.

"Minkowski formulation itself was a mathematical model designed to emulate Einstein’s results". I always assumed Minkowski space came before Special Relativity.
