It might not be bad question. Production efficiency is usually related to environmental footprint of a processing system- But at best to compare technologies it is to draw the border for similar products, not necessarily similar processing routes. You might recall apple to apple....
The energy, spent on handling the wast, and on building the facility should be taken into consideration in the future? (The straw is left on the land, as an alternative.)
