There are many studies on this subject, but there is no coherent theory that will explain the entire mechanism of the long-term memorization process. In addition, it is also necessary to know the mechanisms for reproducing information at the right time, comparing it with new information, updating the memory ... Please study two scientific articles in Attachment.
I believe that only the Creator will be able to answer this question.
Within the tradition portrayed by connectionism, the neural image of the long term memory in the human brain has been expounded in a logical way. Notably, a memory system has three important tasks to perform: Encoding, storage, and retrieval. Information from the world in form of explicit and implicit declarative knowledge types must be acquired and represented. Representations must have a reasonable durability to fit the desired retention period. Unlike short term memory (STM) , LTM has a large capacity system for holding information in a more stable, but less active state. It is clear that STM serves as some kind of gateway to LTM where information is encoded in LTM via two rehearsal processes: rote rehearsal (repetition) and elaborative rehearsal . The exposure of the individual to external stimuli would initiate a reaction in terms of activating a number of neurons while inhibiting others. Items of knowledge tend to represent information according to their meaningfulness. If the activated neural network associated with a given stimulus is fetched and used enough times, the targeted network would not be prone to forgetting either. In such cases, unlike rote rehearsal, the elaborative rehearsal causes knowledge to be stored in and consumed by LTM for longer and more stable retention.
sensory memory develops short term memory and retrieval of short term leads to long term memory. we forget things only but things remain the part of long term memory because we dont have retrieval cues to retrieve back from the long term memory
Master Vladimir A. Kulchitsky with many sciences together, where I seek answers, we may be able to answer that question. With all respect and cordiality, and grateful for your response. Eduardo Cerqueira
