How does pH of chitosan solution affect the reduction of copper(II) ions to Copper atoms?

If I had to use higher concentration of acetic acid to dissolve chitosan, would it be difficult to reduce Cu ions when copper sulphate solution is added? Do I need to increase the pH a bit?
