The concept of transience or transient landforms or transient response in geomorphology is increasingly used in the geomorphological literature. Yet it is not well defined and used in very different contexts for different environments and on different timescales. In some cases it is used for landforms that are not in equilibrium with current environmental conditions, in others cases on short term features/landforms that do not persist on longer time scales.

I was wondering if we can start a discussion here and to learn from for opinion on this term. Is there a general agreement on what this term represents and how it should be used? I am not up to date, and is there aready a review paper on that topic?
