Can someone help me find some resources relating to the density of a single polymer chain in solution? Is there any dependence on the molecular weight/length of the chain? In a solution, will longer polymer chains separate from their shorter counterparts (based on density) if unperturbed?

Dear Liam Reilly, yes there is a relationship, and it depends among many parameters on chain architecture and the degree of interactions polymer-solvent. Usually the coil arrengements is entropically more favored, this arises the importance of free volume which is inversely influencing the density. Please check the following link. My Regards

but if you apply a strong ”gravity” field it can be useful. This is the basis of some ultra centrifuge techniques.
