Any answer we give in 2024 is going to be laughably wrong by 2029.

The way things are playing out at the moment, is that students are writing assignments using ChatGPT (and other LLMs) and academics are marking those assignments using ChatGPT and other LLMs. I don't know what the purpose of these kinds of assessment are, any more.

I can get around this a little in my classes (I mostly teach AI for computer science students), because I can rely on LLMs making programming mistakes. I explicitly allow students to use LLMs in their assignments, knowing that it can't quite complete every assignment without a student overseeing it and guiding it with some understanding.

I don't think this will last long, and that option has already long since passed with many other fields of academia. There are stop-gaps (e.g. asking more probing "why" questions) which may be beyond the capabilities of LLMs for a few months more --- possibly even a year or two.

I'm not sure that I (as a teacher) will always be a better instructor for my students than an LLM would be. Maybe they can do a lot of their learning through an intelligent tutorbot.

Where do we end up?

• One possibility is that we could have a Butlerian Jihad in education. Remove technology from the classroom and from assessments. Exams will be handwritten on paper. A degree from the University of No Technology is a clear statement about the person's actual abilities. Of course, the graduates from the University of No Technology may not be particularly employable.
• Another possibility would be that all education becomes computer science education. (I'm OK with that!) Since the majority of subjects will be subjugated to automation, the only things worth teaching is how to automate. Truth be told, it wouldn't really be "computer science" education, as "alignment" education: how do you make something smarter than yourself act in your interests in a particular field. The graduates from Alignment University would be very, very productive employees, weak at research and the fundamentals of their fields... and there's no way of using their course marks to distinguish between them as to who is smart or not.
• Academia could crumble into irrelevance. There's no rule that says buggy whip manufacturers have to exist; neither is academia guaranteed to survive.
• Hopefully there are other possible futures here, as all of these seem a bit bleak.

Despite all the good things that LLM have and their impact on life and the future, we should know that all these models are biased from the data used for training GPT use the wiki data , its alredy BIAS , what ever u do the LLM wil efect on the peaples now and in the future .

The nature of human beings and the impact of life on them has biased them in a way , Religion, politics, gender, different tastes, etc., all of these have biased people in some way

Personally, I think it’s a must to allow students to use AI in their learning instead of preventing them. However, instructors should teach them how to use it properly and legally. Integrating AI into the learning process is one of the effective methods to enhance students' learning. With the age of AI and modern technology, the educational sector should join in to avoid falling behind.

The advantages are numerous: AI saves time and effort by completing tasks that take time, analyzing data accurately, generating presentations, aiding in academic research, and helping to draw out comprehensive mind maps. Additionally, AI can write and summarize video content, which helps visual learners. AI offers a personalized learning environment for each learner, allowing them to learn at their own speed. Furthermore, AI can assist with research outlines, glossaries, citations, grammar checking, finding main ideas, and answering questions. Even in coding, AI can easily identify errors and enhance code. In building plans and strategies, AI can generate images based on provided specifications.

It saves students and teachers time by automating administrative tasks such as grading. Students can achieve higher marks when they provide ChatGPT with the rubric for their work, as it grades it and provides comments for improvement.

Of course, there are disadvantages. Most Gen Z learners are more likely to search for ways to minimize effort, resulting in decreased use of their brains and overreliance on AI as a second mind rather than just a tool or assistance. AI significantly affects tasks like writing, which is considered an essential skill for students. When students misuse AI, it prevents their minds from thinking and developing higher order thinking skills. The quality of education may be affected by AI, with positive results but also negative outcomes. Students may become irresponsible with AI, lack time management skills as AI completes assignments before the due date, and increase the opportunity for cheating and copyright problems, leading to a lack of integrity in their education.

This is a perspective from a student evaluating the effect of AI in the learning environment. At the end, if teachers encourage students to use AI in the right way, they will. If not, students will use it anyway, as they are becoming smarter in humanizing AI work. Instructors should make a significant effort in this regard.
