Hello Negin, there have been a number of studies done on the effects of office layout on worker productivity. One of them is actually here on ResearchGate that looks at how office layout affects satisfaction and perceived productivity support. Another studies similar variables that I also link to below.
It is hard to predict what effects future architectural trends will have on productivity, but there are some general trends discussed in these articles that will likely be incorporated in the future such as larger shared spaces and collaborative workplaces. A journal you want to monitor for future advancements in this field is the Journal of Facilities Management. Architecture journals are also interesting, although they tend to focus more on trends as opposed to quantifying resulting improvements in productivity and other labor metrics.
Thank you so much for your detailed explanation and very relevant resources. you're right there is a broad range of study in the regard of "the impact of workspaces on business performance", however, what I am seeking out is the impact of business performance and demands on office spaces, especially, changes of the layout of spaces. How the business of near future may change the space?
Actually, this handbook raised the questions in my mind.
