Is it okay for someone to take up research as a means of livelihood? If so what are he ways you can monetize research, especially in resource-limited Countries?
This is really a very good point for thought. Research can be monetized if the outcome leads to an income-generating innovation or solution in terms of goods or services.
Choose a problem based on industrial needs. Try to get a problem with funds for developing solutions. Many International Development Agencies (IDAs) offer problems under the ongoing projects in many developing countries. You may have to bid on a high-quality technical proposal and the lowest financial proposal. You may have to negotiate and prove that your solutions are based on your in-depth analysis of the terms and conditions of the research project. Try to complete it well before the fixed date of delivery.
Form a consortium of institutions. Develop a Memorandum of Association. Divide projects based on the region or specialty of the area of work. Prepare a common bid proposal. Plan for sharing the project gains. Resolve the conflicts.
