How do you increase the magnification in time resolved shadowgraphy without losing resolution?

We are working on pump probe shadowgraphy in transparent material using femtosecond laser, but it is difficult to obtained an image of reasonable magnified to image on CCD. We were to able obtain using longer pulses - any suggestion?
