I want to identify a gene in an organism for which the whole genome is sequenced. The gene that I want to identify is not sequenced in this species. I have tried similar search blasting, but in vain. Please help.
The whole genome sequence is available in GenBank but a common gene is not sequenced or specified for this species. The sequence is hidden in the whole genome sequence. But for other related species the gene is specified as cDNA / mRNA / peptide. I want to make primers for the gene of the species. Plz suggest. i have BLASTed related species sequence cDNA with the whole genome , but not of much use.
I think you should find the conserved sequence for this gene in related species which means it is the most possible similar sequence in the organism you need. Usually using coding region rather than introns or else.
