I would want to know what are the available methods for finding the K factor in a bolted joint; especially if you have a large number of joints.

For example - in the automotive industry there are numerous joints that need to be torqued to specification. Is testing in accordance to the equation:

Torque (T) = Clamp Load (F) x K Factor (K) x Nominal Diameter (D) for each joint the only method?
