This question is for those who have taught online classes. One of challenges of online classes is administering exams. For face to face classes, an instructor becomes a proctor in a classroom.
However, it is hard to know whether or not a student obtains answer from a book (when the exam is not an open book test) and from other students (when collaboration is not allowed).
Sometime, an online class instructor asks his or her students go to a designated test site, and an authorized person in there check students' IDs and serve as a proctor. However, it can be difficult to arrange test sites.
