Let's say you have to come up with a way to make a lineup for a team. So you get the team stats and player stats like passing, Tackles, Shooting, Interceptions (It's soccer). Anyway you made the lineup, but you have to validate it if that lineup is the best lineup of the team. How do you validate the lineup you have made without playing the team in a match.
There are numerous ways. The simplest may be to qualitatively or quantitatively compare the chosen lineup or each individual on the entire team to normatives of what is deemed successful or of championship caliber in that particular sport, event, position, or level of competition.
Variables could be what you have chosen, or you might also look to other disciplines that quantify successful from non-successful, or elite from non-elite athletes. This may involve assessing psychological aspects of sport performance, or specific batteries of on-the-field skills.
The body structure (or body proportions) of athletes must also correspond to the sport they are engaged in. For sorting, you can use tests (without a mask and through a mask) that determine various physical qualities (for example, the strength and endurance of an athlete).
