How do I prepare a potential lung donor on APRV for FIO2 challenge?

We need to switch a patient back to a conventional mode of ventilation (VC/AC; PC/AC or PRVC before obtaining ABG's for FIO2 challenges. We had an issue on our last case where the lungs de-recruited after switching from APRV over to A/C. Does anyone have suggestions on any ways to bridge a potential lung donor over from APRV to A/C? Thank you!
