We are going to propose a study that aims to use fresh Benguet pine (Pinus kesiya) needles as an alternative pesticide for pechay (Brassica rapa l. var chinensis). But we do not have a way to measure the effectiveness and the duration of effectivity. We have read many related literatures, but none could be used appropriately for our study.

Refer to your query, there is a simple way for checking effectiveness of medicinal part, you can prepare a solvent extract using Soxhlet Extraction procedure or keep dry Benguet pine needles powder overnight in solvent and use it for bio efficacy after filtration. Regarding your query, i would suggest you before thorough study, conduct preliminary trials. Use freshly prepared aqueous/alcoholic extract for application. Record the pest infestation/infection/ level at the time of application and further observations at regular interval after the application. Compare initial pest data with the data recorded at different time interval and get an idea about the effectivity as well as effectiveness over the time. If you get some promising results, then conduct thorough study.
