How do I get the folksonomical data from del.cio.us site?

I am doing research in E-learning 2.0. I want to create metadata using folksonomies. The Website del.cio.us contains folksonomical data. I read in one paper, the folksonomical data in del.cio.us available in XML or JSON format. In it, I am having a doubt. How that site, convert the folksonomical data to XML or JSON? Through that, I want to know how to create the metadata using folksonomical data for e-learning systems.

You need to use their API or RSS feeds:

You need a programmer who knows how to work with such API's, i.e. has some background of web crawling, web mining. Then, you can automatically fetch the data you want from their server and save for offline analysis.
