After turning on the AKTA FPLC, I noticed that the UPC-900 read out the following error message after the self-calibration failed: “73 WARNING Too much straylight leaks in”. The OD ranges from 1000-6000 mAU with double distilled water. My adviser and I replaced the UV lamp and tested both 254 and 280 nm filter housings along with the light housings. The flow cell tubings are non-transparent and the optical unit is not exposed to direct light (the FPLC is kept in a 4°C cold cabinet with no light source). The FPLC is an older model and is no longer serviceable. Are there any suggestions on how to fix the straylight issue?
I also forgot to mention that the UV flow cell was removed, inspected and washed, then placed back into position.
Its a minor adjustment problem only, that we also faced with the AktaPrime plus FPLC when we were selecting 254/280 nm wavelength filter and didn't adjusted the head. Just contact service and they will guide you atleast telephonically.

Hello Andor J Kiss nope, not yet. We have a backup FPLC to use for now, but I'm interested to see what is going on with this straylight issue.
Hi Mangal Singh , Are you suggesting that the "straylight error" is merely an adjustment issue than can be resolved by a telephone call to support? And one should not replace the UV bulb (Part #: 28-4042-25), but rather simply perform the "adjustment of the head"? Thanks.
