I need to find out how much carbon dioxide has been taken up by algae. Due to the large number of samples and the subsequent samplings I cannot rely on the use of TOC or other analyzers. Are their any laboratory methods which I can apply for my situation. I found some literature regarding the use of Walkley black method for algal biomass. But the paper lacked specific details.

My first hurdle is the quantity of algae I need and how do I immobilize and then chemically analyze it.

Any insight into this issue will be highly appreciated.

Also if there are other methods which can help me find the amount of carbon dioxide used by algae please share below.

Thanks,
