The sand body on the river bed is 9 meters thick. It consists of medium and coarse sand. The stream course on the river changes course and hence direst pumping stations for irrigation are adversely affected. The base flow is the only alternative left for exploitation.
I feel that you have connected impervious layers in up stream. It is better to manage environmental flows at micro catchment level with the community participation. This will help you to reduce the sand and silt load downstream and could be achieve within two three years if programmed well. Let community to mine sand for construction with monitoring program to avoid any disturbance to banks and the original river bed.
