Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many researchers like myself who are traped abroad, are forced to require the services of a research assistant, to help them collect data at home. In my case, I find it difficult to get a reliable research assistant who can accurately collect my data from the field.
I will be grateful if I get some more suggestions from anyone here on your own successful experiences and how I can effectively train research assistance online and get satisfactory data from the field.

Part of the answer may be in what you are defining as "reliable". Possibly some examples of "unreliability" would help in devising the best selection and training protocol.
In general, "training" is the transfer of knowledge. That is enhanced with the clarity of the processes and the desired outcomes. How do YOU do your research consistently and well? There must be identifiable and transferrable steps and processes that you use to obtain your desired results. Those need to be WRITTEN plainly so that any assistant can be trained to follow them, referring back to your 'standard' as necessary. Beyond that, regular contact communications via email and video whenever possible will help with both the training stages and further collaboration.
IF the "field work" is something that really requires experience as well as a particular process, then it may be much more difficult to 'train' someone without a lead Mentor or Investigator with them.
