Hi everybody, i'm a student of mechanical engineering. I have imported in Ansys APDL enivonment a mesh built in Workbech, but in APDL the element are not connect to their volume.
Since i want to reflect this volume with the element, i need to now how i can connect the element of mesh to the volume in APDL. Anyone knows how to do it? Thanks in advance for all suggestion!
The mesh is not attached to geometry when transfered from Workbench enviroment. If it's for representation purposes, you may use the /edge, /gline commands.
execlty the mesh is not attach to geometry. Is there a command to attach the mesh to geometry? it's not only for representation, i need to do an anasys with the model.
No option to attach as far as I know. To detach you have MODMSH,DETACH
But you may apply loads on nodes / node components and run the solution from APDL.
Or, you re-mesh everithing in APDL. Lots of work though.
Agreed with Marius. I think you import CAD model in APDL and then Mesh it to avoid data loss.

I mesh in Workbench because i'm not able to realize a mesh with hex element in APDL and so i tried to do it in WB (so i I obtained the mesh in Image 1), but with the problem that the mesh, afther import from WB to APDL, is not attached to volume i can not realize the reflection respect plane X-Y.
Do you know the approach to mesh this volume (image_2, it's a sector of a wheel) directly in APDL? Or if is possible reflect in APDL only the element of the mesh independently from the volume?

To get a hex mesh in apdl you need to divide the complex body in sweepable volumes

The mesh might have been attached to the volume but its not visible.
Go to Plot then select Element
If mesh is attached then it will be visible
