I have calculated the atmospheric loss by below formula according to ITU R
Loss_Atmosphere_Atten = loss_Gaseous_Atten + sqrt((loss_Rain_Atten + loss_Cloud_Atten)^2 + loss_Scintillation^2) ;
I would like to add the XPD cross polarization discrimination in the calculation of total atmospheric loss but i do not know whether i should just add it or take an average with rain attenuation or if any other formula exists, please let me know!! Thanks...
My XPD values are ranging 20-30 dB whereas the total loss due to rain, cloud and gas ranges only 10 dB. The loss due to XPD is constituting high value. So i am not sure whether it can be true as loss due to rain attenuation should constitute largest.
Loss due to atmosphere is due to attenuation in particles present in the media whereas loss due to XPD is due to polarisation of E FIELD
Yeah I understand that polarisation loss is implementation phase but rain attenuation is propagation phase. But the depolarisation I am talking about is caused due to rain. Rain causes attenuation and depolarisation. So i am looking for a way to take into consideration both the rain effects, whether to average them and just add both. I think just sum of all is the solution.
Losses may be due to different phenomena but the total loss will be the sum of all in dB
