I have performed column chromatography for separation of unsaponified petroeum ether extract of leaves about a year ago. Small fractions were collected in appendroff of 3ml. I have used chloroform: hexane combination as a mobile phase and silics as a packing. Now I find very minute orange needle shaped crystals on the inner wall of the appendorff tubes. I want it to collect. Can I use chloroform to extract crystals from the appendorff, which may be made up of plastic material?
