I am trying to bond carbon based PDMS composites, mainly with graphite powder, to bond either with Kapton tape with silicone adhesive or Kapton film. The PDMS composite is roughly 0.1mm thick. I have tried surface treatment with APTES and with MPTES for both substrates, had no success. My goal of this experiment is to thermally actuate it without debonding the bonded two layers. Any suggestions of how I can bond them without debonding or delamination between these two layers?
Can you use an oxygen plasma treatment on the surface of your Kapton tapes or films so carbon based PDMS composites should stick on the surface of your Kapton surface.
Dear Xuhua, two, somewhat naive suggestions:
1. try either warming up or cooling down Kapton tape.
2. consider using an intermediary X, so PDMS composite to X, and the X to Kapton tape

To answer your question:
Firstly, I don't think the warm up or cooling down the Kapton tape will work in this case.
Secondly, you mentioned the intermediary X. What is it? She already tried some "Intermediary X" as you suggested which proved it doesn't work.
As we know that PDMS can be bonded to the oxygen plasma treatment surface from our experiment, this can apply for this case. Do you know that during the plasma generation process, there are some heats produced too?
@Nayoung Kim when you try to use the oxygen plasma treatment, make sure the power is not too high in order not melting your Kapton tapes. You should optimise the power of plasma machine. Hope it works well for your work!

I've tried to use the plasma treatment (75W for a range of 1 to 3 min) with ambient air without Oxygen due to no Oxygen supply in our lab. It did improve the bonding, but the bonding force is still weak for my application. I am wondering if using Oxygen as the working gas would greatly improve the bonding.

The oxygen should enhance the adhesion of PDMS surface. Alternatively you could increase the power of your plasma machine? If not, try to get the plasma treatment longer. Say 5 mins.
