Cooperatives have taken a lead role in socio-economic development of communities, particularly in developing countries. One of my MBA students also has shown keen interest in assessing the role of cooperatives in economic independence and empowerment of women. Could you please share your ideas and papers in this regard?
Dear Arhan, you may wish to refer to our paper by Lan, Hong. et al: "The role and characteristics of social entrepreneurs in contemporary rural cooperative development in China: case studies of rural social entrepreneurship' in Asia Pacific Business Review (2014). One of the interviewees was a highly entrepreneurial and capable woman. Also our Springer book by Ying Zhu et al (2015): 'Transforming rural communities in China and beyond: Community entrepreneurship and enterprises, infrastructure development and investment modes.
