This is an active area of research. In most CNS disorders, autoreactive T-cells are the culprits. But it is unclear how these autoreactive T-cells are activated and perpetuated naturally in the genetically susceptible people. There are no distinct biomarkers by which one can measure the reactivity of CD4 cells in these disorders. Unfortunately, there are no animal models in which autoimmune CNS disorders manifest naturally without immunization, unlike humans. This makes it very difficult to translate the findings from experimentally induced autoimmune CNS disorders to the treatment of patients. I am not quite sure about your question of "relativity CD4 testing with T3 & T4". Also I am not clear about "systemic and metabolic infections". Please clarify these.
By T3 and T4 are you referring to CD3 and CD4 T cell markers?
Excuse my lack of clarity. Yes I am referring to the CD3 and CD4 T cell markers. While there are blood tests for the T3 & T4 cells as for identifying active EBV, these tests usually have to be requested and are not regularly done.
While there may not yet be precise comparison studies relating to autoimmune CNS disorders on animal models, it would seem that with enough of analysis of these type of T Cell markers in those who do have Autoimmune, Immune or CNS disease and disorders, that comparatively and quantitatively speaking ; could further implement current course of research and study.
With the systemic and metabolic infection reference, my question of this in in regard to the importance of impact upon patients who have either unidentified systemic or metabolic infections that impact the Central Nervous System.
