Sustainable buildings will lead to decarbonisation of a city.In India climate through out the year is hot and humid .To attain a favourable or cooler temperature ,Air conditioners are being used in houses which again is not energy efficient , non sustainable development models,use of refrigerators and Acs increase greenhouse gases.
How we could make an alternate to this ?
I am preparing to write a paper on this distressing issues, If someone could be by co author,I will highly appreciate it ?
HVAC systems typically use electricity for cooling purposes in summer. The way the electricity is produced highly impacts the amount of CO2e emissions. For instance, if the electricity comes from solar panels or other clean sources of energy, it will have much smaller ecological impacts compared with power plants using coal, oil, etc.

@Adnan Aftab in your original question description you've mentioned energy and carbon of HVAC systems, but in your comment you mentioned cost.... There are various "passive" strategies in design that could minimize the cooling energy demand. There are also many papers covering this topic. I'd suggest that you use Google Scholar or the search option of ResearchGate and put these keywords in the search box: "passive design strategies in hot and humid climates".

There are many recent techniques of earthen architecture, that depends on merging traditional with modern solutions, which are related to passive energy efficient design, and achieved environmental sustainability with lower cost...
You can take a look at such buildings in many countries, included India, in Rael Ronald book "earth architecture "
There are many building techniques and practices that can guide you towards an energy conscious design. They can be passive solar techniques, vernacular materials & practices and renewable sources of energy to a building. These can be applied as design tools at site planning like zoning, orientation and landscape design (vegetation and how you channel the wing pass through shaded zone) etc.; block level, where you design openings & shading devices, material selection and different passive solar techniques; and many smart ways to harvest renewable energy.
To construct a sustainable building in India I think is much more easy ,one don't have to go anywhere just go in Rural India n follow their pattern of Building construction,living style, planting local trees as much,sticking to nature as much as possible in case of even food ,clothes....
Instead of going in deep details of methods of construction we can just follow this or lining will be much more sustainable....
Sarmada Madhulika Kone Thanks for the answer but again i feel that this a common man cant afford ,Everything needs to put together including cost efficiency and when it comes to developing countries like India, people will think of money first then comfort.However An Air Conditions cannot be a replaced with a HVAC in a single house just because it needs a larger space and also pricey.
This is a serious issue .We need to meet the demands of energy too.
Mrinal Kashid Houses in rural areas are built in a larger space.When it comes to Metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai ,we know the truth .

Any building has a construction phase, operation phase and a demolition phase. There is energy consumption in all the three stages. Now when you try to study the cost effectiveness of green building strategies, you should compare different passive solar strategies, local materials and different technologies that harvest renewable energy against installing cost and the energy conservation it does in building's life span, i.e. then next 50 to 70years in future. There is a correlation between energy consumption and project cost. It's complex since many parameters involve to estimate a project cost and energy consumption. We as architects are designing for 50 to 70 years in future, our designs should also speak how buildings should operate. We just cant worry construction phase and completely ignore the operating phase.
when you want to address both energy efficiency and cost effectiveness with your design, you should understand that when we plan for a project, the project cost should not just consider the construction cost, it should also talk in terms of maintenance cost as well.
I suggest you to reframe your question as it lacks clarity.

To construct a sustainable building in India you have to go to nature, planting of greenery, such as trees, flowers, shrub, taking into account properly the ones that can best survive in such weather conditions of the place.
The simplest way is greening the housing. Encouraging residents by the municipality to make their housing green is an important step in the sustainability of housing.
