For creation of CMS (controlled by maternal inheritance i.e., induced either by mt-DNA or cp-DNA mutations/ rearrangements) If source of CMS is not available...you can do this....
1. wide hybridization with can be done using wild species as maternal source and cultivated species as pollen parent source. Screen F1 s, F2 population for pollen fertility/ sterility...
2. induced mutation can be employed by using physical or chemical mutagens followed by screening for plants having sterile anthers/ pollen and confirmation by progeny evaluation.
But......Source of CMS in chilli is already identified. You can get from AVRDC, Taiwan or NBPGR, New Delhi, India. You can use this source for developing CMS based CGMS hybrids.
Thank you Mr. Kattula Nagaraju for your answer and suggestion. I'll try to collect those lines to develop hybrids. By the way, Is there any publications related to development of CMS lines please?
