At present central government making the policy and forecasting for doubling the farmers' income, and on the other hand here working a no of research institutions in India and abroad for long time for different technological intervention. Then, how could we may come in conclusion not in the debate, but in focus manner how we can help and prove our scientific guidance in reality to help farming and improve the farmers' income with policy change as well as technological adoption in the right direction with respect to Indian farming scenario .
An interesting question . Best reality woould be to adopt policy of other way round , putting up 80% efforts in extension and 20% in research , then you see the changing face of indian agriculruture in realms....
Focus on market orientation crop production & encourage farmers to process value added products from their own produces. Need to strengthen our farmers bargaining power ( through FPO, FPC, CIG)
In agreement with previous observations. In many developing economies two systems are key drivers of agricultural transformation:
(1) An effective Agricultural information system ((Research -Extension-Farmer) and
(2) An efficient marketing system. With these two in place and functioning well you are certain of lucrative farming. The effectiveness of the two systems requires concerted institutional and policy interventions that are well coordinated.
Transfer of technology that is efficient extension to ground level
Appropriate local market facilities
Integration of agricultural enterprises like integrative approach with dairy animal husbandry fisheries poultry etc etc
Processing and selling of agriculture value added products as entrepreneurs
Government support
On farm resources management so as to enhance sustainability level as well as utilization of on farm wasteful material as an alternative for income generation
The new concept of formation of FPO (Farmers Producer Organisation) would help the farmers to get higher income for the produce. Provided they work in cooperation and coordination.
@ Swaminathan, I pick from you two key words; Cooperation and coordination. A well functioning Agricultural net-chain requires these two attributes. When the producers are able to link up well with service providers and market developers, productivity in the entire net-chain is greatly improved.
Reducing the damping of unwanted agri inputs which costs heavily to the farmers. Judicious use of fertilizers and need based pesticides usage may reduce the cost production which intern makes benefit to the farmers.
yeah cooperative will be supportive but to research to it must be focus on the related demanding problem mostly focus on their extension in grass root level,we most have to focus in decreasing input cost without decreasing the output so that gross benefit will be more.
