The literature says its possible to study urban air pollution using NIR and IR, and urban surface temperature. Can anybody suggest a methodology?
You should limit your research objective, so people address you more specifically.
For example, you can regard O3, Nox as air pollution; therefore OMI can be used in this case...
Generally, MODIS, MISR,MOPITT, GOES, GOME, TES, MLS are very useful to study the impacts of cloud convection, air pollution regulation, extreme weather, dust particles and so forth on air pollution.

I guess you can look at particulate matter and aerosols using a variety of satellite images, MISR, MODIS, TOMS, OMI. There are detailed methodologies available where these images can be used to extract meaningful data. I have successfully used MISR and MODIS for estimation of PM2.5 over middle-east.
Thank you a lot for your helps and sorry for my general question,as Amir said It is better for me to limit my research to a few kind of air pollution ..As I find out the there are many factors that we can count as pollution as co2,o3,NO and other kind of aerosols,here I have limited what methodology I need to find.At first I have to use free satellite images ..Now I have to read articles that you suggested me in case of get familiar with literature ..For now thank you for your helps
