I would like to make a liquid medium anaerobic, how can I do this without an aneroid chamber or purging with anoxic gas?
Also, I am attempting to use both facultative and obligate anaerobes, would the candle method be ok?

To make a liquid anaerobic, you need to degassing it (bubbling) with nitrogen gas. you can bubble the bottle containing the liquid before sterilization step. If you want to bubble the liquid after sterilization, you must use a 0.2 um sterile filter.
For preparing anaerobic atmosphere, you can use candle or specific kits.

Some of important steps you have to follow to prepare the liquid media suitable for anaerobes: 1) preparation of culture media, 2) purgation of oxygen from the media by bubbling with anoxic gas, 3) sterilization of the sealed vessels by autoclaving, and 4) addition of reducing agents
