I used a hand-held GPS receiver to get PDOP, HDOP and VDOP data.

But not tried a smartphone.

If you get the NMEA data from the smartphone, PDOP, HDOP and VDOP data should be available from the $GPGSA data sentence.

Thank You very much for advanced answers but I need to determine the DOP and then compare with the DOP from NMEA GGA or another message. I can do it because I have e.g. HDOP is about 3 for around 20 satellites (with good geometry). This value is the same in three different softwares for recording NMEA messages in mobile phones.
